The fall’s creepiest newcomer, from the creators of The Good Wife, is like a more grounded X-Files, teaming a pragmatic forensic psychiatrist (Katja Herbers) with a would-be priest (Luke Cage’s Mike Colter) and a skeptical debunker (Aasif Mandvi) to investigate unsettling cases that question the nature of evil. Embodying the dark side is a sinister pot-stirrer, played by supreme scene-stealer Michael Emerson. Evil is engrossing, unpredictable and, best of all, original.
