"When Criminal Minds first premiered back in 2005, it was clear that the show wanted to rewrite the rule book on police procedurals. Instead of focusing on the nuances of various police departments, Criminal Minds flipped the switch and started to draw the viewer's attention to the perpetrator's mental state instead. Thus, an entire generation of TV lovers became addicted to the show and it kickstarted a widespread fascination with forensic psychology.
The show has taken on many forms over the last two decades and has recently been adapted into Criminal Minds: Evolution for Paramount+. But, because the format was such a success, a lot of other nail-biting dramas have decided to take a look inside the mind of a twisted criminal. Therefore, there is a whole host of psychological crime dramas just like Criminal Minds that are waiting to be uncovered."
