Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is saying goodbye to two of its series regulars
Juliana Aidén Martinez, who plays detective Kate Silva, and Octavio Pisano, who plays detective Joe Velasco, will not return after season 26
Martinez joined earlier this season, while Pisano has been part of the main cast since season 23. The beloved procedural drama has not yet officially been renewed for season 27, but if and when the show returns, Martinez and Pisano won’t be there
It is unclear whether the decision was made for creative or financial reasons — or both. There has been a pattern of budget reductions currently underway across multiple NBC shows, impacting cast, episodes, and other areas ahead of renewal decisions leading up to the network’s upfront presentation
