 Oscars 2021~

Ban Zoom for 2021 show

Following record-low ratings for Zoom-heavy awards shows like the Golden Globes and Emmys, Academy Award organizers have declared their upcoming ceremony will be a Zoom-free event. The move to create an intimate, but ultimately in-person show is an attempt by producers to avoid the travails of previous pandemic-era shows that were "marred with technical difficulties and spotty Zoom feeds." The dress code for presenters and nominees will shun casual wear and winners are being asked to "read the room, tell a story" in lieu of a perfunctory, impersonal speech that lists their agents and management.

The ceremony, scheduled for April 25 at LA’s Union Station, will only allow nominees, their guests and presenters to be in attendance. Some sections will be pre-taped from elsewhere in Hollywood.
